My Brother Hyrum

I thought this was the perfect clip for the last day of Autism Awareness Month.  I was super excited to find on lds.org tonight.

I am so grateful for my life.
I am so grateful for my family.
Through all the challenges,
I wouldn't change any of it.

Happy Autism Awareness Month. :)

"...the courage to make certain everyone is included and feels loved and valued."

I had never thought of it as courage before, but he's right. This is a beautiful video. Thanks for sharing it.

How are you? Thanks so much for sharing the ls.org video. We used this Monday night for FHE and it was so powerful for the boys. You are such an amazing mom and example!
Hope you guys are well!!

I love this video! It reminded me of a recurring theme from the book "Look Me In the Eye" (thanks for that, by the way!)--that autistic people DO still feel and ARE like everyone else--they just don't express things the same. And I thought how EVERY person has a perfect spirit inside, beautiful and intelligent and sensitive and powerful. And one day we will ALL see that clearly, but until then, we need to remind ourselves of those things and work on our own capacities to love, to understand, to accept, to be patient and humble and kind. I know I am still working on it. I am so grateful that in our society today we don't try to hide any little abnormality in a closet anymore! It is good to know Race for himself, and not for a pretended something else. He is amazing just as he is. : )
